Moolarben Coal Complex Infrastructure

Project Overview

Deep within the Western Coalfields of New South Wales, the Moolarben Coal Complex is a large-scale mine running 24 hours a day, seven days a week. This site includes both open-cut and underground mining operations, supported by integrated coal processing and transport infrastructure.

Our Work

From 2019 to 2020, Stripes Engineering delivered a broad scope of construction works to support a new water treatment plant at the Moolarben Coal Complex. The project involved the supply and installation of over 20 km of HDPE pipework and fittings, up to 710 mm in diameter, along with valves, flowmeters, trenching, structural pipe supports, earthworks and concrete works.

Stripes also supplied and installed two 500 kL water tanks and associated infrastructure. The mechanical infrastructure enabled a reliable water supply to the treatment plant, as well as the transfer of treated water, wastewater and mine water to multiple locations across the site. We also relocated and modified existing pipelines and completed pressure testing in accordance with Australian Standards. Upon project completion, our team provided Yancoal with comprehensive quality assurance documentation, including weld records and ITPs.
