For light-duty commercial floors, slabs are typically around 150 mm thick with steel reinforcement. Heavy-duty industrial slabs supporting trucks, forklifts or plant equipment are generally 200 mm–300 mm thick, designed and reinforced to meet AS 3600 – Concrete Structures standards.

Concrete curing time varies depending on mix design, temperature, and site conditions. However, concrete generally reaches approximately 70% of its design strength in seven days, making it suitable for light foot traffic or formwork removal. It achieves full strength after about 28 days, when heavy equipment or vehicles can safely use the surface.
